Cotton, Shires and Associates, Inc. has been providing
geotechnical peer review services to communities since 1974 (this
work includes geotechnical evaluation of building permit and subdivision
applications). In addition, since 1983 we have assisted Public Works
Departments of several municipalities with the investigation and
design of slope stabilization measures, roadway repairs, bridge
design and geotechnical construction inspections. We have also provided
cities and counties emergency response services including storm
damage assessments and building safety evaluations after earthquakes.
We have updated grading ordinances and Seismic Safety Elements of
General Plans for several municipalities. We have provided expert
witness services to cities related to litigation. Please view our
