Representative Experience

Mr. Schrier has over 18 years of professional experience in the field of geotechnical engineering. Recently he has acted as project engineer for several landslide investigation and repair projects including: the investigation and repair of a deep seated landslide which was affecting several houses, a roadway, and an 8-foot diameter municipal water pipeline in San Mateo County; the stabilization design of a deep seated landslide which was affecting several houses in San Leandro; the investigation and design repair for a large landslide which damaged a major roadway in the Santa Cruz Mountains; the investigation and repair of a debris flow affecting residence in the City of San Bruno; the investigation and preparation of plans and specifications for the repair of slopes affecting roads for the cities of Woodside, Healdsburg, Los Altos Hills, and Belmont; and analysis of slope failure in residential areas for litigation. He also assists in geotechnical peer reviews by evaluating foundations design and hillside stabilization plans for San Francisco Bay area communities.

As a project engineer, Mr. Schrier performed geotechnical engineering analysis, and prepared reports, designs, plans and specifications. His experience in engineering analysis for landslide related projects include: analyzing laboratory data, determining static and seismic slope stability, and determining seismic displacement magnitudes. Mr. Schrier has designed retaining walls, buttress repairs, and drainage mitigation measures. He has an extensive background working with UTEXAS3 slope stability programs, FEADAM for the finite element analysis of dams, SHAKE for the determination of surface acceleration from earthquakes, DISPLMT for determination of permanent seismically induced displacements; and AutoCAD.
