Representative Experience

 

Mr. Simon has over 8 years of experience as an engineering geologist in the southern California area (including two years experience as a staff engineer).   The bulk of this time has been dedicated to the characterization of sites involving collapsible soils, expansive earth material, adverse geologic structure,  fault surface rupture hazard, and prehistoric, historic, and active landslides; evaluation of earth material shear strength properties and slope stability analyses of sites impacted by active, historic, and prehistoric landslides and adverse geologic structure in the Western Transverse Ranges. 

Development and preparation of proposals, scope of work, and budgets for geotechnical projects addressing single lots to tracts of the order of thousands of acres. 

 

Planning, execution, and preparation of reports of preliminary through engineering level geotechnical investigations and geotechnical observation and monitoring of mass-graded residential and commercial/industrial developments in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties, and the cities of Agoura Hills, Camarillo, Lancaster, Los Angeles, Malibu, Moorpark, Oxnard, Santa Clarita, Santa Paula, and Thousand Oaks.

 

Engineering geologic site characterization experience consists of geologic mapping, down-hole logging of large-diameter borings, and logging of trenches for investigations of landslide hazards, fault surface rupture hazards, and general geotechnical issues impacting public, residential, commercial and industrial developments in the above referenced municipalities.
