Representative Experience
Mr. Nichols has 4 years of experience in the field of
engineering geology and related earth sciences.
As a staff geologist with Cotton,
Shires and Associates, Inc., Mr. Nichols has examined exploratory trenches for
geologic peer review of fault studies and completed geotechnical peer review of
technical reports for several Bay area cities and towns. He has also gained experience in the collection
and compilation of landslide characterization data, analysis of geologic and
geotechnical data, and preparation of technical maps, cross-sections, and
reports.
His duties during landslide investigation have included
aerial photograph interpretation; logging of small-diameter exploratory
boreholes and test pits; downhole logging of large-diameter borings, installation
and monitoring of slope inclinometers and piezometers; total station surveying;
and geologic mapping of bedrock and surficial deposits. In addition, he has conducted construction
inspection and testing for the Town of
