As a staff geologist at Cotton, Shires
and Associates, Inc. (CSA), Ms. Mascorro has participated in a variety of projects
including construction inspection of the Terra Bay Centennial Towers in South
San Francisco, geologic mapping for the City of San Bruno and geotechnical peer
reviews for several Bay Area municipalities. She has also taken part in a variety of geologic
tasks including logging of exploratory boreholes, installation and monitoring
of slope inclinometers, field surveying and construction observation for
landslide repairs. Prior to her
employment at CSA, Ms. Mascorro developed her skills as a geologist working for
a smaller geotechnical consulting firm, worked extensively on sediment and
carbonate analysis while working for the USGS, and participated in creating
geologic maps using GIS software as an intern for the California Geologic
Survey. During her studies at San
Francisco State University, Ms. Mascorro participated in a long-term research
project monitoring fault creep on Bay Area faults and completed her
undergraduate thesis based on finding relations between microseismicity and
fault creep.
